Learning is a Game

Education

How is it possible that one and the same person can memorize a 1,000 digit number and the order of 10 decks of cards within an hour but forget his keys or leave the money he withdrew in the cash point? For Ed Cooke, Grandmaster of Memory, the answer lies in the creative connections one can make between a set of numbers or the order of cards and anything that may pop up in our mind, be it a colour, a banana or even Frank Zappa. Memory is the art of imagination, says Cooke, and makes a case for how cats can inform our memory skills.
