Coding for Children: The infinite loop of chasing an idea
In a passionate talk about technology and education Theodosios Sapounidis tells the story of Cubes Coding, a project about teaching children the basic principles of programming through games that started taking shape almost 13 years ago. The idea behind it was really simple: to supply children with items that they know how to handle, such as cubes, puzzles or LEGO bricks, and with these items give them the opportunity to learn stuff that they didn’t know before; in this case, to learn programming.
Theodosios Sapounidis gives a live demonstration of how Cubes Coding works and shares with us the challenges he had to face in order to turn his aspirations into reality. “When you have an idea that you believe in you have to pursue it no matter what,” he says. “The only way to fail is to quit.”
